Institute News - IEA Launches Publisher Discounts for Members The results obtained from the Institutes' member survey revealed that members would like to have access to discounted books, resources and support materials to help them develop within their roles. The Institute has negotiated a 15% discount (inc. P&P) with both Routledge Education and Harcourt Assessment, and further individual and bulk discounts with other publishers/resource providers are planned for the near future. Assessment News - Assessment Reliability and Validity The Institute aims to disseminate information to all assessors that will enable them to develop their skills within assessment. In accordance with the QCA Code of Practice, all awarding bodies are required to ensure that their assessments are fit for purpose, valid and reliable. The Institute has published articles that focus on the different aspects of the principles associated with the reliability and validity of examinations and their mutual inter-dependence. Assessment News - Examiner Recruitment The awarding bodies and the National Assessment Agency have worked closely together over the past two years to recruit more examiners, moderators and markers. Assessment News - And Finally: The 'Sshh!' Campaign aimed at University Students Guardian - 24th October 2006 Gone are the days when lollipops were given to children as a reward for good behaviour; now the sweets are the secret weapon in a campaign to stop rowdy behaviour by drunken students. The lollipops are part of a new Sshh! Campaign aimed at encouraging students to reduce late-night noise levels.

Membership is completely free-of-charge until 9th May 2007, so that means that (if you join now) you can continue to enjoy IEAMail completely free-of-charge.
