Reform
As reform of the current education system comes under increasing political and media scrutiny there are signs that assessors, while aware of the forthcoming changes, may need information, advice and guidance relating to the impact of these changes on their working practices. 90% of assessors have read the entire white paper, or related articles, or had discussions with colleagues about the changes. 77% expect the reforms to have an effect on their working lives - with 25% believing this effect will be significant. The IEA will help to support its members through these periods of change.
Any lapse in the high quality of assessment provided by today's assessors due to confusion around new arrangements could have damaging consequences on public confidence. The IEA is keen to ensure that assessors, whether classroom based or not, are given access to the training, support and guidance they need to prepare effectively.
