This means that for those individuals who currently receive IEAMail and are not members of the Institute this will be the last IEAMail you receive automatically. If you would like to continue to receive the full version of IEAMail then please follow the link below for details of how to join. Institute News - IEA Professional Framework Explained The IEA Professional Framework highlights the skills and competencies required to develop or maintain assessment skills of the highest order. Here on the website we offer a unique opportunity for members to analyse and explore their assessment competencies and to identify any skill gaps they may have. The IEA has developed an online guide to the framework that helps members to understand the benefits of the framework, and how it can assist them in developing their skills and competencies as assessment professionals. Institute News - Improved login features If you have logged into the Member area recently you will have noticed that not only does your name appear in the login box, but also your membership grade. In the near future the Institute also hopes to enable a 'Remember Username' facility that will make logging in even easier!
Institute News - Membership Milestone! The IEA is proud to announce that since the launch in May 2006 we have attracted over 3000 membership applications. Membership of the IEA is completely free of charge and without obligation until May 2007. Joining the IEA has been made even easier through the new online application form, please follow the link below to join.
Institute News - Student Member Area On the main sub-navigation menu you will now see 'Student Member Area' option. This area is specifically for Student Members studying towards their PGCE, B.Ed or M.Ed and includes a wide range of resources including a brand new introductory guide to educational assessment called First Steps, a student vacancy service and other useful links.
NAA Assessment News - Do you have the skills, knowledge and expertise? The Key Stage 1, 2 & 3 National Curriculum Tests follow a rigorous test development process, reaching over 1.2 million pupils every year. It is essential that the tests are top quality, fit for purpose assessment instruments. To ensure that the NAA are developing the highest quality assessment materials, we would like to invite you to become part of our pool of national expertise, so that we can call upon your skills in the future. We are seeking expert contributions in the following areas:
Assessment News - Purposes of Assessment Educational assessment is conducted for a variety of reasons and the nature of the assessment often reflects the purpose for which it is being carried out. The importance of validity and reliability differs somewhat depending on the purpose of assessment. Education professionals use a range of terms to refer to the different purposes of assessment. Those most commonly used include the following:
CPD Events and Training Course Calendar Each month the IEA communicates educational assessment focused events and training courses that are taking place around the UK. Assessment News - And Finally... Schools told to beat mobile phone exam cheats by blocking signals! Schools should consider using signal blocking devices to prevent pupils using mobile phone text messaging and two-way pagers to cheat in examinations, a leading expert on exam fraud said yesterday.
