Membership fees
Fees for associate membership are only £40.
Associate (ACIEA)
Associate Membership is available to:
Qualified teachers, lecturers, examiners, moderators and markers, in-house training and development professionals, and anyone with experience of assessment and knowledge of the examination/testing system in public examinations and national tests.
To become an Associate Member, you must meet the following criteria:
You already possess an appropriate qualification at NQF level 6 (or above) and you have a minimum of 1 years' assessment experience e.g. assessment of the internal components of external examinations.
There are three application options available to you. Please select the one which suits your situation
1. I am already an Affiliate Member and wish to upgrade to an Associate Member
You can apply to upgrade your membership online or order an upgrade pack by calling 0845 6722123 or send an email (with your full name and membership number) to members@charteredinstituteofeducationalassessors.org.uk
2. If you have classroom/college-based assessment experience you must submit:
- a copy of your qualification certificate at NQF Level 6 or above (e.g. degree or PGCE Certificate) and
- a reference from your head of department or head teacher.

3. If you have external assessment experience you must submit:
- a copy of your qualification at 6 or above (e.g. degree or PGCE Certificate) and
- a copy of an offer, letter or contract from your awarding body.

Associate Member case study
Raj has learned a great deal about student achievement in the two years he has been teaching English at Key Stages 3 and 4. He is looking to develop his skills in external assessment in order to compliment his experience in classroom assessment, and to learn more about how the National Curriculum testing system works.
As an Associate Member, Raj receives access to an online virtual network to support his learning as well as information, research reports and details about the latest developments in assessment. He intends to apply for a position as a marker of Key Stage 3 tests in English for next year's tests.
