Teacher's TV
Earlier in the year the CIEA asked members to submit information and evidence relating to and showing significant improvements on the assessment of core subject topics within their school.
One school, The Hodgson School in
In 2000 the school achieved an 'unsatisfactory and weak' (according to OFSTED) total of 38% A*-C grades in Science; however in 2007 the school managed to turn this around to over 98%. They did this by offering modular BTEC, dual award and triple award and matched pupils to appropriate routes. Teaching and assessment styles were changed dramatically with pupils being given clear objectives and desired outcomes at the start of each lesson.
Peer assessment was introduced and assessment information was shared openly and publicly with students and other teachers. This has led to increased motivation amongst students and a more joined-up 'team' effort from the teaching staff.
