Education and Inspections Act

The Institute recently attended the Education and Inspections Act conferences in both London, at the Barbican on January 18th.  and Manchester, at the Renaissance hotel on January 25th. as the Lead Exhibitor.

These conferences focused on the key components of the Act that will present the greatest challenges, and was used as a vehicle to provide individuals with practical guidance on key areas of the Act. These included providing a rationale for the Act and the long-term strategic directions for Education. The choice and diversity dimensions to the Act were also considered, as was the impact of the Act on the Ofsted framework. A final input looked at the changing role of local authorities The day was structured to allow individuals to learn not only about the Act but how to put these new policies into practice.

Delegates were then given the opportunity to take part in discussions that appealed to their particular circumstances.

This was a timely opportunity for the IEA to meet and speak with those individuals that are at the forefront of change within the educational community. This also helped to raise awareness of the IEA and explain our role within assessment to senior managers.
